What is a Bridge Crane?

Overhead bridge cranes are heavy duty material handling equipment. They allow for heavy material to be moved in all three axis within the bridge span. The bridge crane travels along an overhead runway system consisting of two parallel beams. These can be standalone or part of the existing structure. The trolley and hoists travel along the bridge itself.

  • Single Girder cranes are cost effective and can handle lighter loads and speeds. They only require a single bridge beam which means less dead weight on the structure.
  • Double Girder Cranes are made for heavier loads and higher speeds, they can handle much greater spans.
  • Under Hung  Cranes allow the crane to be installed in an area where there is less overhead room, the crane runs below the mounted runways.
  • Top Running Cranes offer heavy load capacity and run on top of the mounted runway beams.

Our Services

  • Gorbel Ceiling Mounted Bridge Crane

Aluminum or stainless steel supports and runways

Steel, aluminum or coped aluminum bridge

    Cantilevered supports

    Seismic Zone IV

  • Gorbel Free Standing Bridge Cranes

A free standing bridge crane is intended to be bolted to the floor and to support loads that will be moved vertically and horizontally. One worker can manipulate the load along a series of tracks, including curves and monorails, inside a closed system. This design works well in an area with limited headroom and/or a ceiling that is not strong enough to support a mounted bridge crane.

  • Gorbel Hybrid Workstation Crane

Hybrid Workstation Cranes are an extension of Gorbel®’s work station crane line. Hybrid Cranes utilize the strength and longevity of patented track with the light weight advantages of Gorbel®’s aluminum enclosed track bridges. Utilizing these two features together allows for greater installation flexibility to meet longer support centers. It also allows for multiple higher capacity bridges to be utilized on a single crane, with no buffers. Here are some key features of our Hybrid Work Station Cranes:

  • Gorbel Monorails

Think of this monorail system as an enclosed assembly line. Imagine how a garage door opener opens and closes a heavy door by moving the hoist along one track. However, the hoist does not move vertically or side to side. The door rolls down to the ground along the outer rails of its own track. A linear track is perfect for an assembly line in which parts will be added or adjusted in a controlled sequence. Here are some key features of our Monorail system:

  • Harrington DOUBLE GIRDER CRANES

Our top running and underhung double girder design and low profile trolley hoist saves much of the space “wasted” on conventional single girder designs. So for new installations, our Max-E-Lift system saves valuable overhead room and can reduce building height and construction costs. Adding a Max-E-Lift crane to an existing installation where a new, higher lifting height is required can even minimize total construction costs.

  • Harrington HPC CONVERTIBLE CRANES

Designed for medium duty crane applications, our HPC 500 convertible cranes provide flexibility for either top running or underhung use. Crane travel is easy and smooth with machined wheels with sealed ball bearings, while the electric or manual hoist with matching trolley provides positive, controlled lifting motion. All bolted assembly makes installation quick and easy—no welding required.

  • Harrington TOP RUNNING SINGLE GIRDER CRANES

Harrington’s CTM motorized, CTP push and CTG geared single girder cranes are built for the most demanding class “C” applications. Top running complete cranes are suitable for use on ASCE crane rail or square bar and all include unique side guide rollers that significantly reduce friction providing for smooth crane travel. Our complete cranes meet all current industry and regulatory codes.

  • Harrington UNDERHUNG SINGLE GIRDER CRANES

Harrington underhung single girder cranes combine superior performance with underhung space savings. It’s a rugged design that easily handles today’s most demanding Class “C” applications, including fabricating, machining, die handling, production, assembly and maintenance. All bolted assembly makes installation quick and easy—no welding required. Most wiring connections are factory installed or plug-in type. You can rely on Harrington cranes for durability, reliability and years of trouble-free service.

Applications for Bridge Cranes in Industrial Warehouses

Bridge Cranes are widely used in various industries such as manufacturing, construction, logistics, automotive, and steel production. They are essential for lifting and moving heavy materials efficiently.
